The Journey of Intelligence
A wrinkly weak old man, Old Milan, gets revenge on Prussian soldiers using his intelligence and cunning ways. In "Old Milon" by Guy de Maupassant, Old Milan demonstrates his cunning and smart ways through killing German soldiers. Before the first murder there were wounded soldiers lying in the streets. Old Milan tended to them. I believe he helped them so that later on when he went around the town murdering the soldiers no body would suspect it was him. During the first murder he took another soldiers clothing to disguise himself for the murders later on. He also hid the bodies at first instead of leaving them in the open. Old Milan learned to speak German words so he could act as a German soldier when entering the villages and to communicate with the Germans. While he was sneaking around at night he kept against the slopes so that nobody would see him. After each murder he kept getting smarter and sneakier about it. He learned from each murder on how to make the next one better. At the end of the trial when the men were inquiring him about what happened Old Milan fessed up and didn’t tell any lies. I think that this was smart because he was trying to prove a point that the soldiers were wrong for killing his father and son. If he didn’t tell the truth about what he did then he would not have gotten his point across. In all if someone wants to prove a point stick to a plan and follow through with what you want to accomplish.
